Check of serviceability and replacement of the gauge of position of a camshaft

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Uncover the distributor (the Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance). Insert into a back part of a socket of a plait of wires of the distributor the straightened paper clips or wire pins for maintenance of contact to plugs. Try not to damage at installation of pins a plait. Connect a positive wire of the voltmeter to a target wire of the gauge (see an illustration). Be verified with schemes in the Head System of an onboard electric equipment. Having connected the voltmeter:
      On engines in volume of 4.0 l turn the engine a starter so that бегунок the distributor has turned in position at 10 o'clock. The gauge ring will enter into the magnetic induction gauge. On engines of 5.2 l turn the engine a starter so that бегунок has turned back on the engine. The mobile ring of the gauge will enter into the magnetic induction gauge.
    At ignition key turn in position ON (without engine start) the voltmeter should show value nearby 5В. If pressure is absent, check up pressure on a food wire (white-black). It should equal approximately 8 In at the key turned in position ON. If pressure is present, connect probe the voltmeter to an alarm wire (black-grey) and turn the engine, watching instrument readings. Indications should fluctuate between zero and 5.0 In that speaks about a correct pulsation of a signal of ignition.
    Connect positive probe the voltmeter to a black-grey wire of a socket of the gauge of position of a camshaft and make sure that its indications pulse between values 0 and 5.0 Century
    If the gauge of position of a camshaft does not pass any of the listed checks, replace it.

Replacement

Engines V8 are equipped by the gauge of position of a camshaft which can be taken from the distributor without removal of the last from the engine (independent type) whereas for gauge removal on 6-cylinder engines it is necessary to disassemble before the distributor (the gauge of dependent type).

    Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the radio tape recorder in your car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect from the battery a negative wire make sure that the given code know.

    Remove from the distributor a cover (the Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance). Disunite electric sockets of the gauge of position of a camshaft. Take the gauge from the distributor.

    Installation make upside-down.

The gauge of dependent type (6-cylinder engines)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

    Remove the distributor (Has undressed Removal and distributor installation). Mark gear wheel and shaft position in relation to a cylindrical pin is it is useful. By means of small выколотки take a cylindrical pin (finger) from a distributor shaft.

    Remove from the distributor a gear wheel and a persistent washer. Take a shaft of the distributor from the case. Give the screw of fastening of the gauge of position of a camshaft and remove the lever. Take the plug of a plait of wires through passage from a cut in the case of the distributor and take the gauge. Installation make upside-down.
